my roots
From a young age, I was fascinated with the power of moving pictures. If you ask my parents, they will tell you about how I would always try to look through the lens of their camcorder and make my own home videos. Of course, those first few videos I made were not that great, but it solidified my desire to learn and and grow as a visual communicator.
It was only natural that when I started my undergraduate program at Spring Arbor University, I would make a name for myself in the video and film department. I learned how to take an idea and slowly but surely bring it to life following the video production process:
Originate an idea - Storyboard - Cast - Shoot - Edit - Share
During my undergraduate program, I was given the amazing opportunity to spend a semester in Los Angeles learning from industry professionals and interning with Academy Award nominated director Scott Hamilton Kennedy on his latest film Food Evolution. While The experience taught me more than I could imagine, I also learned that living in Los Angeles is not something I wanted to do. Rather, I wanted to return home to Michigan and get to work telling the stories that are inherent in my home state.
Over the course of my professional career, I have supplemented my video production abilities by teaching myself how to craft and design other media, like graphics, logos, and audio using programs like Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop, and After Effects.
